Thiart Li, also creator of Shenay, O’Brien, SA’s first Drag Queen on a reality show, was born in Pretoria, and found interest in the arts from a very young age. Taking part in Revues, Eisteddfods and also competed at the South African Championships for Performing arts in 2004. Versatile, Energetic, Committed and Hard Working are just a few words to describe Actor, Singer, MC and Voice Artist Thiart Li. He completed his studies in 2012 in Drama at the Tshwane University of Technology. During his studies he played in various productions such as Pygmalion, Madea, Hothouse and Corpus Christi to name a few. In 2012 He made his professional debut in Ester die Musical in the Pretoria State Theatre. 2013 brought productions such as The Frog Prince and other Tales and shortly after a new Afrikaans CD Project: Alles Afrikaans. Released on the 8 Nov 2013. Thiart does his rendition of Pharells, Get Lucky, called: Vir n Kuier. End of 2013 saw him making his international debut playing Beast in Barnyard’s Beauty and the Beast Pantomime, at the Madinat Jumeirah Theatre in Dubai. In 2014 He performs at the Pretville Theatre in a Afrikaans Poetry Show where he set original music to 6 of acclaimed poet A.G. Visser’s poems. He portrayed the role of Fox in My Son, Pinocchio and performed at various corporate events such as the Samsung S5 Launch, Tshwane Universitys Annual Sport Awards. He also films his First movie Lagmense. In 2015 he takes on two more Childrens Theatre productions, Disneys The Jungle Book and Shrek Jr, portraying the quirky and flamboyant Lord Farquaard. 2016 proved to be a busy year with the filming of his second film, Droomdag, making a cameo in the TV series Mutal Friends and performing in stage productions Beautiful Creatures and Hooked on Books, whilst MC’ing and performing around the SA. In 2017 Thiart portrayed the role of Gregory Stephanovich in Anton Chekov’s afrikaans adaptation: Die Beer, he also took on the role of Mario in the Original musical, Calling Us Home that debuted at the Joburg Theatre.
