CREW-ETC by Frankie Opperman

Crew-Etc has some exciting news to share. Over the last number of years we’ve grown from strength to strength. We’ve seen where the need is and where it’s not. This has led us to make an important decision regarding the future of our division and the crew we represent.

From the month of June we are pivoting into 6 specific fields and throwing our weight behind these sub-divisions. It has been a no brainer to pursue the fields where the demand on our end is high and unfortunately leave behind where the demand is not, all this as we fine-tune the Crew-ETC division to best serve the industry.

Introducing the 6 fields –
Intimacy Coordinators
On Set Dialogue Coaching
Action, Stunts and Special Skills Performers
On Set Child Minding & Tutoring
Post Production
Transcribing and Translations

We are excited as we embark on this new chapter at Crew-ETC. Join us for the ride!

SOCIAL-ETC by Thulani Ndzotyana

Hello from Social ETC!

This month, we’re diving into the significance of rate cards and why they are a game-changer for your influencer marketing strategy.

Why Rate Cards Matter

Rate cards are essential for brands planning their influencer budgets. They offer a clear view of potential expenses, making it easier to allocate funds effectively. Knowing the costs upfront, even if there’s room for negotiation, helps streamline the collaboration process and aligns expectations between brands and influencers.

The Power of Niche Influencers

Influencers with specific niches—whether in lifestyle, comedy, or life coaching—tend to stay busy and in high demand. Understanding and targeting the right niche for your brand is key to a successful campaign. At Social ETC, we ensure our influencers are not only talented but also perfectly matched to your brand’s unique needs.

Maximize Your Campaign’s Success

By leveraging rate cards and focusing on niche influencers, you can optimize your influencer marketing efforts. Plan ahead, stay within budget, and choose the right voice to amplify your brand’s message

Stay tuned for more updates and tips from Social ETC!

Greetings TETC Family,

June is upon us, and we have a lot to celebrate and share! Firstly, we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to every South African artist who participated in the recent elections. Your active citizenship is vital for making our voices heard and effecting change in our industry.

The prestigious Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards are just weeks away! We want to congratulate all the nominees and wish you the best of luck on this special night. Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to celebrate your achievements.

We are thrilled to welcome our newest members to the Talent ETC family: Charushka Singh, Silo Gumbi, Siphokuhle Bananae, and Naliyani Uma. Congratulations on your recent accomplishments, and we look forward to watching your stars rise as you grace stages and screens across South Africa.

Sharing a few Tips to Stand Out in the Industry is important. Standing out in the competitive world of entertainment can be challenging, but with the right strategies, you can make a lasting impression. Here are five tips to help you shine:

1. Develop a Unique Personal Brand:
Your brand is what sets you apart from others. Focus on what makes you unique – your style, personality, and the specific qualities that make your performances special. Consistently showcase these elements across your social media, updating your portfolio regularly, and living your brand during auditions.

2. Continuous Learning and Improvement:
The entertainment industry is always evolving, so it’s crucial to keep honing your skills. Take acting classes, attend workshops, and seek feedback from mentors. Staying committed to continuous improvement will keep you competitive and versatile. Make sure you are taking advantage of Training Hub and the Live Facebook sessions to keep up to date.

3. Align Effectively:
Building relationships in the industry is key. Attend industry events, join professional groups, and engage with fellow artists both online and offline. Alignment through networking can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations that might not be available otherwise.

4. Create a Professional Portfolio:
Your portfolio is your professional showcase. Ensure it includes high-quality headshots, a well-edited showreel, and an updated resume. Highlight your most impressive work and keep your portfolio current to reflect your latest achievements and skills.

5. Be Persistent and Resilient:
The path to success in entertainment is rarely smooth. Rejections and setbacks are part of the journey. Stay persistent, keep auditioning, and maintain a positive attitude. Resilience is key to overcoming obstacles and eventually achieving your goals.

As we move through June, let’s continue to support each other and celebrate our collective and individual successes. Together, we can make great strides in the entertainment industry.

Thank you for playing your part in our Talent ETC family. Your dedication, passion, and talent are what makes our family so special.

Warm regards,
Justin & Fundi

SAGE WORDS by Sean Munday

As we go into the winter months, it’s important to take stock of where you are right now. It can be a difficult time for many as winter depression sets in and the industry slows down a bit. Take care of your mental health and do what you need to do to stay on top of your game!

We shrink from change; yet is there anything that can come into being without it? What does Nature hold dearer, or more proper to herself? Could you have a hot bath unless firewood underwent some change? Could you be nourished if the food suffered no change? Is it possible for any useful thing to be achieved without change? Do you not see, then, that change in yourself is of the same order, and no less necessary to Nature? – Marcus Aurelius

THEATREby Katie Groves

Happy June to everyone!

Theatre is buzzing, as per usual, what a joy to be able to say! My little ted talk for the month is upskilling and maintaining skill! If you look at the best of the best, across the world, across industries – they all have coaches, trainers, advisors, mentors etc. If the best in the world still go to someone else for lessons, for training, for growth… what makes us think we are any different? Don’t get slack, don’t settle, don’t become complacent. Keep going to dance classes, signing lessons, building rep, growing your abilities. It’s only through constant feedback and training that we can get to where we want to be!

As always,
Love and light.
Katie

LAST THOUGHT by Pierre Ball

This month I would like to focus on the importance of “Punctuality”. Being on time to appointments and meetings is crucial to any first impression. It is a phase of self-discipline and evidence of self-respect. Punctuality is a courteous compliment the intelligent person pays to his associates and can be summed up in one simple word, respect. Arriving late is a way of saying that your own time is more valuable than the time of the person who waited for you so one must understand why it is viewed as disrespectful when one makes someone wait. Punctuality is, in a lot of peoples view, the soul of business and the politeness of kings. A strong work ethic includes punctuality and many jobs are lost due to lack there of. So for the last days of May, ensure you are the first to attend, ensure you leave the best impressions and remember to be punctual in all aspects of your life.

CAPE TOWN-ETC by Thulani Ndzotyana

Dear Cape Town ETC Family,

We’re thrilled to bring you the latest updates and exciting news from our growing division! As we continue to expand, we are delighted to announce the signing of several artists into long-term contracts for productions shooting right here in the heart of Cape Town. This marks a significant milestone for us and underscores the increasing recognition of our city as a premier destination for creative endeavours.

Our division has been buzzing with activity as more and more talented individuals choose to make Cape Town their home for artistic expression. We’ve witnessed firsthand the power of collaboration and creativity as we work together to bring captivating stories to life on screen.

In addition to our successes on set, we’ve also been reflecting on the importance of physical auditions in fostering meaningful connections and unlocking new opportunities beyond the audition room. These face-to-face interactions not only allow us to assess talent more thoroughly but also create invaluable relationships that extend far beyond the casting process.

However, as we continue to grow and diversify our projects, we recognize the need for more young talent to join our ranks. Children aged 5 to 15 bring a unique energy and perspective to our productions, and we are eager to welcome them into our creative community.

Whether you’re an established artist or a budding talent, there has never been a better time to be part of Cape Town ETC. Together, we are shaping the future of entertainment and showcasing the incredible potential of our vibrant city.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we embark on this exciting journey together.

Striking the Balance: Longevity vs. Overexposure in Social Media Brand Collaborations

In the dynamic realm of content creation, achieving the right equilibrium between longevity and overexposure in social media brand partnerships is vital. Here’s a concise guide to mastering this delicate balance:

Embracing Longevity
– *Build Trust:* Forge enduring relationships with brands that align with your values and resonate with your audience, fostering trust over time.
– *Audience-Centric Approach:* Deepen your understanding of the brand and its audience, crafting content that authentically engages both parties.

Avoiding Overexposure
– *Guard Against Fatigue:* Overexposure risks audience fatigue and undermines authenticity. Maintain a balanced mix of sponsored and organic content.
– *Protect Your Brand:* Excessive sponsored content can tarnish your brand image and limit future collaboration opportunities. Prioritize quality and authenticity in all partnerships.

Ensuring Usage Compliance
– *Clarify Usage Terms:* Specify that usage rights are limited to social media platforms during the agreed-upon period. Avoid allowing brands to repurpose content for digital media without additional compensation.
– *Protect Your Value:* Charging for social media usage ensures fair compensation for your creative work and maintains the integrity of your brand partnerships.

In essence, fostering longevity in brand partnerships while mitigating the risks of overexposure is essential for sustained success in social media content creation. By upholding transparency, prioritizing authenticity, and safeguarding usage rights, content creators can navigate this delicate balance with confidence.

Dubbing, dubbing and more dubbing has been the flavour of the month for April. We continue to work on a host of kids and adults shows and our Voice Artists are flexing their vocal muscles!

We had an exciting audition for an animation which many of our artists did excellently in. Quite a skill to play a different age and pull it off effectively!

Kristy voiced her first audio book this month, Heka and the Colour Thief by Dennis Dvornak, and learned so many lessons about this advanced level of our craft.

If you are looking to do some accent work, look our for our Accent Neutralisation classes kicking off in May. For any of us with strong SA accents it’s a good idea to first look at what makes us special and then how to become more mouldable as voice artists and actors.

LAST THOUGHT by Pierre Ball

This month I would like us to remember that the best time to start something is now… Its time to take your life back and seize every opportunity that is placed in your path. The only way to become great at something, is to put in ten thousand hours and make sure you act on any goal you set.

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful.” ¬- Mark Victor Hansen

We are thrilled to announce that we are currently in production for the groundbreaking show, “STRALEND,” set to premiere on kykNET from April 1, 2024. This transformative production promises to captivate audiences with its unique stories and innovative approach. We are excited to partner with our amazing sponsors , L’Oreal Paris and First for Woman on this project and to have Angelique and Fafa as our amazing hosts!

STRALEND focusses not only on the physical transformation of one’s self, but is also set on helping you overcome mental obstacles that you might find yourself dealing with on a daily basis.

THEATREby Katie Groves

Happy April! Wow, does it not seem like time has absolutely flown by? And with it, what feels like a million castings have flow by too!

That is my focus for this month… castings, and letting them fly by. I think sometimes we tend to forget, or become desensitised, to the massive honour it is to be able to received and submit auditions for briefs. Getting briefs for massive shows, briefs that say REQUEST, briefs that say FEATURE FILM – that is what our little 12 year old selves dreamed to get, and now, here they are! I want to take this moment to remind everyone what a privilege it is to be able to say yes or no to a casting, to work into rooms with such incredible actors, crew members, directors, casting directors and so on. We are the lucky ones, the ones that got agents, that were seen, were acknowledged, were gifted (because yes, it is a gift) these opportunities.

My goal for April is for it to be appreciation April – remind yourself how lucky you are. There are 400 people who would jump if they heard about a casting, if they saw request in the title of the mail, if they got to walk into that room. Don’t let opportunities fly by, jump in with a net, catch it, and go for it with all you have.

Sending love light and jazz hands,
Katie

LAST THOUGHT by Pierre Ball

The question I would like you to ask yourself is, What is Failure?

Failure is a way to measure a truth about the methods you have used regarding particular goals you have pursued. Interpret failure not as a badge of shame, but as a call for self-reflection. Sometimes it’s only through facing the insurmountable, failing, and then struggling to pull ourselves back together that we develop the tenacity we’ll need to succeed.

Try think of failure as one less future mistake. It’s like people say – “Well, I’ll never make that mistake again.” In many ways, we can learn to see failure as one less negative outcome that we now know how to avoid. Failure teaches us what to look out for and what areas need special attention. Failure puts us into a position to start making changes. Use failure as an opportunity to put together a plan towards improvement. Whether that involves extra practice, reaching out for advice, or working with someone more experience, use these situations to develop a strategy for overcoming obstacles. Set reasonable goals for yourself, draw out the steps needed, and make it happen.

Try start by reminding yourself of things you have overcome and adopt a growth mindset. Practicing self-compassion and giving yourself permission to feel is important, but living in your thoughts is something you should try to avoid. Always look at failure as a stepping stone to success and remember everything is meant for you but what is will be yours.

Wishing you the best. Pierre Ball

Hello Social ETC,

As we navigate through 2024, our commitment remains steadfast in advocating for you within the realm of social media. It’s evident that the sheer volume of influencers often tilts the scales in favor of quantity over quality when it comes to brand campaigns, driven by budgetary considerations. Over the past year, we’ve struck a balance by leveraging rate cards and ensuring fair negotiations for your campaigns.

A gentle reminder to meticulously review your briefs, leaving room for additional content. I’ve observed an uptick in client requests for reshoots from influencers this year, highlighting the importance of having spare content readily available. Therefore, when coordinating your shoots with your production team, remember to plan strategically to have backup material at hand.

Lastly, it’s imperative that your media kit for 2024 is up-to-date. Failure to do so will result in us being unable to endorse you for campaigns.

Let’s continue to thrive in the dynamic world of social media together.

THEATREby Katie Groves

Hello hello ETC Team,

Hope you are all well and back into the swing of things. The theatre division is most definitely in the swing of things, swinging quite fast if you ask me! We have had a tonne of auditions, some on the same day! Lots of work in both the English and Afrikaans sphere, from travelling theatre to educational theatre, to musical theatre to children’s theatre. Lots of auditions brings lots of bookings, and our theatre artists are busy busy busy, some are even booked as so far into the year as July already!

Congratulations to Nadia Beukes, who is in her last stretch at Sound of Music. Bongiwe Jiyane has entered her second month working for Buzz Kids, Alicia Badenhorst, Dihan Keun and Priyanka Bandu are hard at work for Bizzy Hands, Larissa is continuing with Productions 2000, Refilwe Modiselle is killing it at Joburg Theatre in the recently opened For Coloured Girls production… and in a few weeks, Ntshikeng Matooane will be making her musical theatre debut in Mamma Mia as a supporting lead!

My quote for the month of March is: “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone” – Audrey Hepburn.

LAST THOUGHT by Pierre Ball

Starting with a quote, “Poor is the pupil who does not surpass his master.” – Leonardo da Vinci. The journey to finding true self is a road filled with growth and lessons well learnt. A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool. My advice for the month of March is to go back to self growth and remember that you only get better with time and dedication toward growth and self development.

2024: A Journey of Alignment Continues

Greetings, Talent ETC Family! Welcome back! I hope the festive season brought joy and relaxation to you and your loved ones. Now, as we step into the new year, let’s not focus on resolutions but instead continue on the path of alignment.

Take a moment to rest and realign; it’s crucial for the journey that lies ahead. The pace of the upcoming year can be demanding, and being in sync with yourself is the key to navigating it successfully.

Imagine yourself not just as an artist based in Johannesburg, Cape Town, or KwaZulu-Natal, but as a South African artist. Invest in the ability to travel across the three major provinces for productions that resonate with your vision.

As an agency committed to your growth, we provide workshops, training hubs, and live sessions. These platforms serve as opportunities for continuous evaluation and constructive feedback on your craft. Strive for excellence; don’t settle into the routine. Stride with unmatched energy.

We are proud to introduce our dynamic team, tirelessly working for your best interests. Utilize our platforms to engage with us. Schedule those strategic sessions, make calls, send emails, and explore all that we offer. Remember, we are a team – you and us.

Let’s kick off the year by prioritizing administration. A well-maintained admin sets the foundation for a smooth journey ahead. Ensure your admin is up to date, reflecting you accurately in all our divisions. This includes updating your voice demos, show reels, CVs, participating in social media campaigns, and discussing rates. The more up-to-date it is, the more aligned we all are.

Wishing you a Happy 2024! Let’s have fun on this journey together.

Finding work in TV and film production in South Africa involves a combination of networking, skill development, and persistence. Here are some steps you can take to increase your chances of finding opportunities in the industry:

1. Build Your Skills:

THEATREby Katie Groves

Hello all

Hope you are well, and looking forward to the festive season that is approaching at the speed of light!

The theatre division is also expanding at the speed of light, currently we have artists on the following productions that will be running over the festive season: “A Merry Little Christmas” at Market Theatre, “A Year with Frog and Toad” at National Children’s Theatre, Janice Hon-eyman’s “Peter Pan” at Joburg Theatre, and the timeless “Sound of Music” at both Artscape Theatre and the Teatro.

While these productions captivate audiences, it’s crucial for us to maintain our performance fitness during the holiday season. As we temporarily step away from the stage, here are a few reminders and tips to ensure we return in top form for the exciting productions awaiting us in 2024:

1. Vocal Maintenance:
The voice is our most valuable instrument. Consider incorporating light vocal exercises into your daily routine to keep your vocal cords agile and ready for the demands of the stage. Hydration and rest are equally paramount.

2. Physical Conditioning:
Maintaining physical fitness is integral to sustaining the energy required for dynamic performances. Incorporate low-impact exercises, yoga, or dance into your routine to keep muscles engaged and prevent stiffness.

3. Repertoire Review:
Take advantage of the downtime to revisit and expand your repertoire. Familiarize yourself with new scripts, monologues, or songs that may align with the upcoming productions. A well-prepared actor is a versatile asset to any production.

4. Mental Rejuvenation:
Theatre demands a sharp and agile mind. Use this break to recharge mentally, whether through meditation, reading, or engaging in activities that inspire creativity. A fresh perspective can breathe life into your performances.

As we bid farewell to the productions of 2023, let’s look forward to and prepare for the curtain rising on a promising 2024!

Wishing you a restful and rejuvenating holiday season.
As always, love and light,
Katie

Campaign season is upon us, and with many brands gearing up to entice shoppers for the upcoming festive season, I am reminded of the critical role of nurturing brand relationships and being an adaptable content creator who consistently meets deadlines.

A significant portion of the bookings this month, extending into December, involve personalities and brands with whom we’ve had successful collaborations in previous campaigns. This underscores the power of word-of-mouth recommendations, as agencies are reaching out based on their positive experiences with our content creators on past projects.

As we approach the year’s end, it’s vital to recognise that in the realm of content creation, relationship building is king

Communication plays a pivotal role in the TV and film production world for several reasons:

1. **Collaboration**: TV and film production are highly collaborative endeavours involving a diverse range of professionals, from directors and actors to camera operators, sound technicians, and set designers. Effective communication is essential to coordinate their efforts, share ideas, and ensure everyone is on the same page.

2. **Vision Realisation**: Every TV show or film starts with a creative vision. Proper communication is necessary to convey this vision from the director or writer to the entire production team. This ensures that everyone understands the intended tone, style, and message of the project.

3. **Scheduling and Logistics**: Film and TV production involve complex scheduling and logistics, often with tight deadlines. Clear communication is vital to coordinate the timing of shoots, arrange for equipment and location access, and manage the movement of cast and crew effectively.

4. **Cost Control**: Effective communication helps in cost management. Accurate budgeting, cost estimates, and tracking expenses depend on clear communication between various departments. Overruns in any area can be mitigated with timely communication.

5. **Safety**: The production environment, especially in film and TV, can be hazardous. Good communication practices are essential for safety. Everyone on set must be informed about potential risks, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

6. **Problem Solving**: In any production, challenges and unforeseen issues are common. Effective communication is key to identifying problems and developing solutions quickly. Whether its equipment malfunctions or scheduling conflicts, addressing issues promptly can prevent costly delays.

7. **Casting and Direction**: Communication between directors and actors is crucial to achieving the desired performances. This involves discussing character motivations, emotions, and the overall vision for the scene. Effective communication helps actors deliver their best performances.

8. **Audience Engagement**: The success of TV shows and films often depends on how well they engage their audience. Storytelling and character development, which are essential components of communication, play a significant role in drawing viewers into the narrative.

9. **Marketing and Promotion**: After production, effective communication is crucial for marketing and promoting the TV show or film. Publicity, advertising, and PR campaigns require clear communication to convey the essence of the project and attract viewers.

10. **Distribution and Exhibition**: Communicating with distributors, exhibitors, and streaming platforms is necessary to get the content to the audience. This involves negotiating contracts, arranging release dates, and ensuring the content is delivered in the appropriate format.

11. **Legal and Contractual Obligations**: The TV and film industry involves numerous contracts and legal agreements. Miscommunication in this area can lead to disputes and legal issues. Clear, well-documented communication is essential to protect the interests of all parties involved.

In summary, communication is the lifeblood of the TV and film production world. It’s essential for the creative process, collaboration, efficiency, safety, and the successful delivery of content to audiences. Without effective communication, the industry would struggle to function and produce the high-quality entertainment we enjoy.

We are happy for warmer weather and warmer voices this Spring, and welcome on board 7 brand new voice artists!

We are very proud of a host of our artists who are voicing Zulu to English translations of Shaka ILembe – Abongile Baleni, Monde Msutwana and Oliver-Che Naidu to name a few. They have worked long hours with great results!

And the piece de resistance, we would also like to give a big shout out to Francis Manga, our local French expert, who spent a whopping 8 hours straight in studio last week dubbing into French for the African continent, with excellent feedback from the client.

Well done voice artists!

Remember, we are looking to lock down the books for a while in the next few months so it is vital to get the right voices in. If you are one of those interested, please remember that Voice is a whole different beast to the rest of our industry. Do you research, check out our page and ask questions of what is entailed. Lights, Camera, Connection: Filming for Corporate Success

Hello, dear readers!

In the world of corporate communications, there’s one tool that has become increasingly indispensable: video. Whether it’s for internal training, external marketing, or simply sharing the latest updates, the power of video cannot be underestimated. Today, we’re diving into the exciting world of corporate filming, a topic that might not be my forte, but one that is undeniably important.

The Power of Visual Storytelling
In the age of digital transformation, businesses are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to connect with their audiences. One of the most effective methods is through visual storytelling, and that’s where corporate filming comes into play. Videos offer a dynamic and engaging medium to convey a message, whether it’s the launch of a new product or the sharing of corporate values.

A Seamless Production Process
Now, you might wonder what goes into creating these compelling corporate videos. Well, from what I’ve learned, it’s all about teamwork and meticulous planning. The production pro-cess typically involves brainstorming ideas, scripting, casting, location scouting, shooting, and editing. Every detail matters, from the lighting and sound quality to the choice of music and graphics. It’s a carefully orchestrated symphony that results in a polished final product.

Bringing the Team Together
Corporate filming isn’t just about hiring a camera crew and pressing record. It’s about bring-ing the team together and aligning everyone with the vision. From executives delivering pow-erful messages to the creative minds behind the camera, each member plays a crucial role in the success of the project. Effective communication and collaboration are key to ensuring that the final video reflects the company’s values and goals.

Showcasing Authenticity
In today’s corporate landscape, authenticity is highly valued. Audiences want to see the hu-man side of businesses, and video provides the perfect platform for this. By showcasing real employees, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses, and telling authentic stories, corporate videos can build trust and foster a deeper connection with stakeholders.

Measuring Impact
One of the advantages of the digital age is the ability to measure the impact of your efforts. Corporate filming is no exception. Companies can track the performance of their videos through metrics like views, engagement, and conversion rates. This data-driven approach allows for continuous improvement and optimisation of future video projects.

The Road Ahead
As technology continues to evolve, so does the world of corporate filming. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive videos are just a few of the exciting developments on the horizon. These innovations promise to take corporate communication to new heights, offer-ing even more immersive and engaging experiences for audiences.

In conclusion, while corporate filming might not be my area of expertise, it’s clear that this medium has a profound impact on how businesses communicate with their audiences. In an increasingly visual and digital world, mastering the art of corporate video production is not just a valuable skill but a necessity for staying relevant and connecting with stakeholders. So, lights, camera, action—it’s time for businesses to shine on the screen!

Until next time, happy filming!
JC

Happy October! Wishing you a fruitful and sunshine filled month! On the theatre end of things, we are exceptionally busy, lots of auditions, lots of callbacks, and lots of confirma-tions – whoop whoop!

Attached are just some of the posters of upcoming shows we have artists in, and I am filled with an immense sense of pride, that walking through Montecasino and the Teatro, I can point to each poster advertising new shows and say “We have someone on there.”

I would like to thank all our theatre artists for constantly and consistently working on their craft, the immeasurable growth that I have seen is tribute to the hard work and dedication you have all put in! I am because you are, the theatre division would not be thriving if you were not feeding it as artists.

October has been traditionally seen as a month of wealth, prosperity, peace and fertility as it is the month when farmers would harvest their crops. As we go into the last few months of the year, take a moment to reflect on the work you’ve put in this year and how it has lead you to where you are now. The actions you do today will shape the rest of your life. So take every opportunity to invest in your craft today so that one day you can look back and be grateful for the work you’ve put in.

Keep working hard and pushing yourself to be the best version of you you can be.

Wishing you all the best,

Embracing Change, Collaboration, and Consistency in Social ETC

Hello Social ETC Family,

What a month it has been! We’ve been diving into exciting discussions, exploring new horizons, and embracing change in the world of social media marketing. Let’s dive into the highlights from the past month:

Barbie-Themed Insights: Lessons for Unforgettable Marketing

We began the month with a splash of creativity and insight at the Humanz offices. Our themed Barbie dress code set the tone for a thought-provoking discussion on how we can draw inspiration from the Barbie Movie, translating its marketing strategies into exceptional social media campaigns for individual brands. Here are some key takeaways:

  1. Unique Selling Proposition: Discover what makes your brand stand out and leverage it to create a memorable presence in the digital landscape.
  1. Consistency as a Brand Builder: Consistency is the backbone of any successful brand. Maintain high standards and deliver quality content consistently to reinforce your brand’s identity.
  1. Clean Content Standards: Uphold the standard of your content. Quality content not only engages your audience but also leaves a lasting impression.
  1. Embrace Collaboration: Collaboration is a powerful tool. Be open to creative partnerships, offering value to both parties and fostering a sense of community.
  1. Content Creation vs. Influence: Understand the distinction between creating content and being an influencer. Strive to craft content that resonates with your audience and adds value to your brand.
  1. The Barbie Effect: Reflect on the brands that have licensed the Barbie name and embraced its iconic pink color. How can you infuse such enduring elements into your brand’s identity?
  1. Embrace Cultural Change: Adapting to cultural shifts is crucial for remaining relevant. As social media platforms evolve, embracing change ensures your brand’s longevity.

The Power of Longevity and Strategic Upsells

Speaking of longevity, we also had an exciting opportunity to join forces with Cinecentre for the premiere of “Sound of Freedom” at Killarney. This poignant movie sheds light on the harsh reality of child trafficking, reminding us of the importance of impactful storytelling and the power of media in driving social change.

In Conclusion, embracing change, fostering collaboration, and upholding consistency are the pillars of success in the ever-evolving world of social media marketing. Let’s continue to learn, adapt, and grow together, crafting compelling narratives that leave a positive impact.

Stay creative, stay inspired, and stay connected.

Tricia Mpisi is through to the second round of auditions for an animated series, doing in-studio callbacks next week with a UK director – exciting times indeed! All the best Tricia!

Once again, winter is very hard on our precious vocal instruments! Keep warm, get plenty of rest and of course: HYDRATE to make sure those vocal chords stay strong. Remember old fashioned steaming (with no additions to the water) is an excellent remedy for sore or in-flamed vocal chords.

Hello hopefully not so chilly artists!
We have entered the second part of the year with a bang, and the theatre division is extreme-ly busy!

A massive highlight was the workshop we had with stageworx. Over 20 artists showed up on a very cold Sunday, and danced and sang their hearts out. It was incredible to see the pas-sion, purpose, and commitment all of you showed, thank you for sharing it with us, and for your dedication.

From a performance side, we have lots of artists booked and busy! Alicia Badenhorst, Di-han Keun and Ntshikeng Matooane are busy with Bizzy Hands puppeteering company. Pri-yanka Bandu and Leboto Moshoeshoe are currently performing in Noko Goes to School (if you feel like some light-hearted children’s theatre, don’t forget to buy your tickets) and Con-nor Meiring is touring Gauteng with Hooked on Books.

We have some super exciting stuff in the works, keep your eyes on our socials to make sure you don’t miss out.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the stageworx open dance classes!

We’re officially well into the second half of the year and on our way out of Winter. And as we say goodbye to the cold months we also say goodbye to the quiet season and full steam ahead into busy times.

June/July saw a dip in briefs as most advertising agency’s go into a new financial year and most productions are in either in pre- or post- production. But if the last few weeks of July are an indication of what’s to come we’re in for a very busy rest of the year! So get ready to start making self-tapes and attending castings!

Wishing you a month of abundance in August.
