Hailing from the little town of Secunda, Jai spent most of his childhood hermitting in his bedroom embracing his introvertism and perfecting his programming skills. However, being a fairly balanced left/right brained individual, working in the real world of IT didn’t quite stimulate all his pleasure zones, so he developed a personality, became an actor and hasn’t been taken seriously since. As a naturally comedic performer, he has done many physically demanding stage roles, complementing his acting performances with fire dancing, tumbling, and plain careless acrobatics. Also credited as Jai Prakash, this amazing piece of man-meat spent a year studying Musical Theatre at TUT, followed by performances in stage musicals such as Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods, as well as a Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing. His physical performance skills were well received in the children’s theatre shows Aladdin and Charlotte’s Web, the seductively naughty School of Whoredom, and the more controversial The Tragic Life and Death of Doctor Faustus. On TV, he has featured in episodes of City Ses’la, 7de Laan, Thandeka’s Diary, and High Rollers, securing a regular role on the latter two. He was onlso in a Robbie Wessels’ music video, and has featured lead in several commercials (for SuperSport, McDonald’s, Vodacom, and others). Jai can also be found in some feature length and short movies such as Mollie en Wors: Die Movie, B.E.E. The Musical, The Deadline, Free State, My Father’s War (2016 IMDB), as well as a couple made-for-YouTube episodes of The Regular Guy. He is always keen to try something new, push boundaries and break ground.
