Bennie Fourie is a young vibrant South African actor. He is currently a full time actor, writer and director. Bennie has a strong knack for comedy and has been part of a successful improvisation troupe, Lagnes, for many years. In 2015 Bennie played Hermann in the first Afrikaans surfing film, Die Pro, alongside Vilje Maritz, Edwin van der Walt and Albert Maritz. He had a cameo in Bloed Broers, playing Hykie Berg’s estranged son. Later this year Bennie will be seen in Sy Klink Soos Lente, his biggest role to date. A film about three mechanics, who need to start a band to impress Linda Scheepers, played by Amalia Uys. Although he loves comedy, his first role was a challenging dramatic one, portraying Henry, a quadriplegic in the 2014 feature, Born to Win. In Mooirivier, an ensemble film from the producers of Klein Karoo, Bennie plays a light hearted, comic role alongside Bouwer Bosch as a student named, Spys. One of his proudest moments were playing the lead character, Kevin, an insecure laundromat employee in the dark comedy, Vuil Wasgoed (which he also wrote and directed). The shortfilm won the award for Best Shortfilm at the Silwerskermfees 2014 and Bennie is currently adapting the screenplay for a full feature that is set to be released at the end of 2017. Apart from acting, Bennie is also a writer. He is the head writer for a Kyknet television series, Hotel. He also co-wrote Sterlopers’ second and third season with fellow writers Deon Opperman and Tina Kruger. Other than writing he has an immense passion for presenting. His improvisational and comedy background makes him an entertaining Master of Ceremonies. He has also worked as assistant director on Mooirivier and Born to Win, and Beurtkrag.
