At the age of three Kayla started Modern dancing and then started Hip-hop when she was nine years old and Jazz when she was eleven. All of her exams were completed with distinctions. She has been competing in The Cat’s Whiskers Dance Festival as well as The Open Dance Festival since 2009. Here she obtained numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and has reached amateur level and pre-champs level in Modern Character.Currently Kayla is an assistant instructor for the Modern pre-school group at Michelle’s Dancing Academy.
Kayla also competes in the Alberton Eisteddfod. She does English and Afrikaans, from poetry to monologues, from improvisation to writing. Drama has always been a passion of Kayla’s. She joined The Playhouse in 2011 and has completed the first four levels of their acting course with distinctions, which include monologues, scene work and stage work. She was the lead role in the school play,Chatroom, who received Item Winner at the Eisteddfod in 2012. Kayla wrote, directed and played in a play for Trefpunt Alberton Lewensentrum (youth church). Currently she is directing and starring in a play for this year’s Eisteddfod. She has also auditioned for film work in the last two years.
In 2012 she was awarded Cultural Student of the year at Hoërskool Dinamika as well as Dux Scholar.
As a little girl, Kayla started singing and has not stop since! She has completed the level one exam with Unisa in 2011.
Kayla is a very spontaneous and outspoken girl.She is very talented, versatile, hardworking, disciplined and dedicated person.She excels in what she sets her heart on!
