Asanda Hanabe is a South African Screen and Stage Actress, known from her appearance on SABC 3 Acting Competition Reality Show, The Final Cut 2017. She was born in Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape and raised in the Eastern Cape. She studied drama firstly in High School as a subject then continued it at Lovedale College as a two-year course. Her love for the creative arts began at a young age, in primary school where she learned to play the violin and took part in all aspects of art. She had an opportunity to participate in an "All Girls Festival" in Bloemfontein. In 2008, she registered at the Lovedale FET College to study a two-year course in Drama and the Performing Arts. During this period, she participated in the Grahamstown National Arts Festival – performing in a production titled "The Mojo Man" directed by Lindile Diniso. Moving to the North-West Province in 2010, She joined a Dance Troupe called the "Kwasa Girls" which performed locally around Potchefstroom at various events and different venues. They were often asked to perform during sports matches at stadia and later secured a contract with MTN, performing at all their local promotional events. Later that year, she moved to Port Elizabeth and took part in the daily activities at a local arts centre. She was then introduced to a group called "Uphondo Lwe Africa" a traditional dance group, which performed in the 2011 Grahamstown National Arts Festival with a production called "Uqongqothwane" (The Beetle) Directed by Zamuxolo Goduka. In October of the same year, she was approached to join the Abelusi Performing Arts Training Program at the Steve Biko Centre in Ginsberg - King William’s Town. During this period, her love and career in the arts grew from 2011-2015 while being at the Steve Biko Centre/ Foundation. In 2011 She was selected by the Swallows Foundation as one of the dancers to join collaborative workshops with some UK artists. During 2012, she received an opportunity of working with MTN Arts Initiative which assists schools and teachers in the Eastern Cape with their Art and Culture Curriculum. At the Steve Biko Centre, she has been able to further perfect her art, participating in a variety workshops and master classes with artists who are leaders in their field. In 2014 Joined the SABC family for a radio drama in Tru FM called "Uhambo Lwethu”. In 2017 she got an opportunity to be part of Acting Competition reality show on sabc 3 called "The Final Cut", and was runner up in the show.
