Anika has a BA Drama & Theatre Arts degree and studied at the University of the Free State. There she performed lead roles in various Theatre productions such as Emmie in Pieter Venter’s “Ons Dorp”, Godfrey Manyene’s “Tears” as well as Zahn in Nico Luwes’ comedy “Die Buite Egtelike Oupa” at the Innibos festival in 2015. As South Africa’s ambassador for the UFS Leadership for Change program she had the opportunity to travel to New York, Washington and James Madison University in West Virginia to gain knowledge about other institutions and cultures. She was also seen in the kykNET Soap, “Villa Rosa” as Aida and received the Elsa Krantz Award for Best Artistic Achievements at UFS in 2015. She found her way into the TV and Film industry as part of the Mnet Magic in Motion initiative. There she gained an in depth understanding of all the different production departments such as Art Director, Continuity, Vision Mixing, camera assisting, AD, Floor managing and her favourite directing and production management. She directed the Mzansi Magic film “Sofa Silahlane” and has worked on feature films “Alone” and “Bloodline”and she was also the production manager on the kykNET Silwerkerm Short film “ARTS”, written and directed by PG de Jonge. Her most recent projects include Assistant directing on DIE OOMS SE BAND S2, insert directing and floor managing for kykNET Die Top 20, Skole Top 10 and FliekNET Foendies, UNISA international Jazz and Classical Competition and Kuesta as Production manager.
